Drywall & Patching
Holes, cracks, water damage, and texture matching — patches that vanish under the next coat of paint.
Signs You May Need This
- Doorknob holes from a kid (or a pet) on the move
- Hairline cracks above doorways or at corners
- Water-stained ceiling drywall after a leak (leak fixed first)
- Old TV-mount holes that need to disappear before move-out
- Popped drywall screws or seams that have telegraphed through paint
- Texture (orange peel or knockdown) that needs to match an existing wall
Patches That Actually Disappear
A drywall patch is only as good as the texture and primer that go over it. Presto Change-O’s Handywork carries a dozen spray-texture cans, hopper attachments, and finishing knives — so the repaired spot ends up matching what’s around it, instead of looking like a circle of “fresh paint” forever.
Common Drywall Repairs
Small patch (golf-ball through fist-sized): cut, backer-strip, mud, sand, texture, prime. Medium patch (TV-mount or door-knob blowout): California patch with feathered tape and three coats. Large patch (full sheet section after a plumbing leak): cut to studs, screw new sheet, three-coat finish. Crack repair with mesh tape so the crack actually stays gone. Texture matching for orange peel and knockdown — the two most common Austin-area textures.
Paint Tie-In
For most patches Preston can prime and roll-out a tight wall section so the repair blends without re-painting the entire wall. For a bigger area you can either keep painting yourself or have him cut in and roll the whole wall as part of the same visit.
Move-Out Specials
Renting and need every old anchor hole gone before key turn-in? Preston has a “move-out repair” package that handles a typical 1–2 bedroom in a single visit.
